Lundahl Transformers

These units feature premium Lundahl transformers on both the input and output stages, delivering fully balanced connections with unmatched clarity and headroom.  The LL5402 output transformer provides wide bandwidth and low distortion, while the input transformer ensures proper impedance matching and galvanic isolation.  Together, they preserve the musical integrity of the signal while adding the unmistakable depth and dimension that only real iron can provide.

SRPP

Unlike the original Pultec's push-pull output stage, this Gyraf-inspired build uses a single-ended SRPP(Series-Regulated Push-Pull) tube circuit -- a refined topology known for its simplicity, musicality, and elegant harmonic character.  The SRPP stage reduces component count while delivering lower noise, smoother overload characteristics, and a more transparent low end, making it ideal for modern mastering chains and high-resolution tracking.

Matched Tubes

Each unit is fitted with a hand-matched pair of NOS Amperex ECC88 (6DJ8) tubes, revered for their smooth midrange, airy top end, and low noise floor.  Sourced from the legendary Heerlen factory in Holland, these tubes bring a rich, open character to the signal path while ensuring optimal channel balance and long-term reliability.  Burned in, tested, and selected for audio precision, they're the heart of the tone that makes this EQ truly sing.

WIMA Capacitors

WIMA MKP series film capacitors are used throughout the EQ section to ensure precise frequency shaping, low ESR, and long-term stability.  Known for their reliability in high-end audio and mastering gear, WIMAs deliver clean transients and transparent signal transfer without coloration.  Their tight tolerances and consistent performance make them a perfect match for the passive filter network at the heart of the classic Pultec sound.

Electrolytic Capacitors

High-grade electrolytic capacitors from Panasonic and Nichicon are used throughout the power supply and signal path for their exceptional stability, low leakage, and long service life.  These components are chosen for their quiet operation and tight tolerances, helping maintain a clean voltage rail and preserving the clarity of the signal from end to end.  In critical coupling and filtering positions, they ensure low noise and consistent performance under real-world studio conditions.

Bourns Potentiometers

Precision-engineered Bourns potentiometers are used throughout this unit to deliver smooth control, excellent channel tracking, and long-term reliability.  Known for their durability and consistency, these sealed, panel-mount pots ensure that every EQ adjustment is accurate and repeatable.  Whether sweeping low-end boost or fine-tuning high frequencies, the tactile response and stability of Bourns components elevate the feel and function of this boutique equalizer.

Grounding & Shielding

Meticulously laid out with a star grounding topology, this unit eliminates ground loops and hum by routing all grounds to a single central point.  This ensures ultra-low noise performance, clean power distribution, and optimal isolation between signal stages -- ideal for critical mastering applications.  As well as grounding, all internal signal paths are routed with shielded, low-capacitance cable to to preserve clarity and reject RF and EMI interference.  Combined with a careful wire dressing and mechanical isolation, this design ensures the signal remains pure from input to output.
